Frequently asked questions

Is this just your opinion on whether you like the design?

No. Every finding is tied to a measurable value (a contrast ratio, a size, a distance) or a recognized heuristic, not personal taste.

Which pages do you review?

At minimum the homepage, a conversion page, a content page, the about page and the 404, since that's where inconsistency shows up most.

Does this work if my site has an unconventional style?

Yes. I don't penalize a deliberate style choice (extreme minimalism, brutalism) if it's executed well, the focus is consistency and usability.

What do you measure in the typography?

Number of typefaces, size scale, line height, and line length, checked against recommended readability ranges. It is one of the six points in the report.

Do you check how the site behaves, not just how it looks?

I check interaction patterns: navigation, hover states, tap target size on mobile, and the quality of your error page. Design is also how it responds, not just how it looks.

What is the system maturity you mention?

It is how many loose variants of buttons, cards, and inputs you have floating around, and whether your spacing follows a consistent scale. The more loose variants, the harder it is to keep the site consistent.
